Philip is a driving force in the Internet of Things. Prior to Tondo, he took LQD’s Palo Smart City kiosk from idea to product and then helped sell the company to Verizon; served as the Executive Director of IoT at the Linux Foundation for three years where he led open source projects in edge computing, IoT platforms, and industrial IoT. Philip was the co-founder and CTO of Xively, LogMeIn’s IOT platform sold to Google, and was a co-founder of IOT Works, an Internet of Things research and investment group. Philip was on product and field teams for 10 years at Microsoft, was a researcher working for Tim Berners-Lee at the W3C MIT office, and spent time at IBM building expert systems.
Philip holds a BSc and MSc in Industrial and Management Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a PhD from Luleå University of Technology In Sweden, and an arts degree in Preservation Carpentry from North Bennet Street School. He has authored numerous academic papers in mathematics and marketing, holds multiple patents in the IoT domain, and sports an Erdös number of 3.
