Marco Palermo is the Deputy Chief Technology Officer of Technology Standardization Delivery in the Technology Services Division at the City of Toronto. He has been at the City of almost 19 years. He plays a critical role in establishing the enterprise-wide Technology Standardization Framework which aids the modernization and alignment of existing IT solutions as well as ensure adherence of enterprise standards and policies. He provides oversight in reducing application sprawl, ensures consistency across all technology solution implementations and leads the transition to DevOps methodology for delivering technology services. Prior to his DCTO role, Marco was the Director of Digital Government and Modernization, providing leadership that drove the successful launch of over 140 different digital solutions, in addition to countless system integrations and the standardization of public facing technology solutions and frameworks. These initiatives include leading the delivery of CORES solution (used extensively by Toronto Public Health during the pandemic), Concept 2 Keys, 311 CRM Phase 2 initiative, the COVID-19 Chatbot, and the Standardization of the Digital Accessibility Assessment framework to name a few.
